Senate to Meet Attorney General on Tax Reform Bills Disputes
The Nigerian Senate has scheduled a crucial meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation this Thursday to address disagreements over the proposed Tax Reform Bills. Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin announced this decision during Wednesday’s plenary, following extensive deliberations.
The Senate has resolved to engage with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on Thursday to resolve contentious issues surrounding the proposed Tax Reform Bills.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, while presiding over plenary on Wednesday, explained that the decision stemmed from a series of meetings by lawmakers to harmonize views on the reforms.
In a related move, Jibrin announced the formation of a special committee to address the matter.

The committee will be chaired by Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, reflecting the Senate’s bipartisan approach to the critical legislation.
Additionally, the Senate Committee on Finance has been directed to pause further legislative actions on the Tax Reform Bills pending the outcome of Thursday’s engagement with the AGF. This move underscores the Senate’s commitment to ensuring thorough deliberation and consensus on the reforms.
