Speaker of Delta Assembly impeached
- Majority Leader removed
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Monday Igbuya, was, this Thursday, impeached by members of the House over allegation of incompetence and high handedness. National Daily gathered that 22 of the 29 members of the House of Assembly signed the impeachment notice.
The lawmakers elected Honourable Sherriff Oborevwori as the new speaker to succeed Igbuya.
The new Speaker, Right Hon Sherriff Oborevwori, representing Okpe constituency was said to be a foundation member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
The House at the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Friday Osanebi, also removed Hon Tim Owhofere, the Majority Leader, and elected Hon Johnson Erijo to succeed him.
