Supreme Court throws out suit seeking PDP to zone 2023 presidential ticket to southeast
The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday dismissed a suit seeking to compel the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone the party’s 2023 presidential ticket to the southeast.
Justice Adamu Jauro delivering a unanimous judgement on Friday, said that the apex court threw out the suit on the ground of lack of jurisdiction to entertain it.
One of the PDP presidential aspirants, Cosmos Ndukwe, filed the suit, seeking for an order of the court to compel the PDP to uphold the zoning and rotatory policy of the party.
Justice Jauro, delivering he judgement, dismissed the suit, stating that the nomination of candidates for elections is an internal affair of political parties.
