Tinubu Reinstates NTA DG Dembos, Reverses New Appointments
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), reversing earlier management changes at the nation’s flagship broadcaster.
Dembos, who was first appointed DG in October 2023, had briefly vacated his post following the announcement of new leadership. With the President’s directive, he will now return to complete his three-year tenure.

The President also reinstated Mr. Ayo Adewuyi as Executive Director of News. Adewuyi, who received his appointment in 2024, is expected to serve out his tenure until 2027.
The reversal effectively nullifies the previously announced appointments of a new director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises.

Presidency sources explained that the directive was taken to ensure continuity and stability in the management of the state-owned television network, which remains one of Nigeria’s most influential broadcast platforms.
Dembos, a veteran broadcaster, is expected to continue overseeing ongoing reforms at NTA aimed at repositioning the organisation in a competitive digital media landscape.
The decision underscores Tinubu’s preference for institutional consistency over frequent leadership changes, as he consolidates reforms across federal media agencies.
