Two more suspects arrested in connection with kidnap of ex-AIG’s wife
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the arrest of two additional suspects in connection with the abduction of Alhaja Sikirat Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.
Alhaja Sikirat was kidnapped on January 16, 2025, at her residence in Arepo, Ogun State.
In a press release on Thursday, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that police operatives successfully rescued the victim and neutralized two of her kidnappers.
He further revealed that the ransom paid by the victim’s family was recovered, and efforts to apprehend other members of the gang were ongoing.
In a follow-up statement issued on Friday, Adejobi confirmed that two more suspects linked to the crime have been apprehended.
The suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30, were arrested while attempting to flee Lagos State.

“The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, following a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, to track down the fleeing culprits,” Adejobi stated in an update posted on the official X handle of the NPF, @PoliceNG.
According to the statement, the suspects confessed during interrogation to being members of a four-man gang involved in the kidnapping.
Two members of the gang had already been neutralized during the rescue operation earlier in the week.
Recovered items from the suspects included a sum of N2,250,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid by the victim’s family, two locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their swift and decisive action, applauding their commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens.
He urged them to maintain the momentum in tackling crime and fostering public safety.
The NPF reiterated its commitment to reducing crime and maintaining peace across the nation.
Citizens have been encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in combating criminal activities.
This latest breakthrough underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to protecting lives and property, with continued assurances to ensure justice is served in this case.
