Uzodimma commends Imo lawmakers for impeaching Ibe, receives new Speaker at Govt House
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Monday commended the members of the Imo State House of Assembly for the peaceful ways they effected the change of leadership in the Assembly, including the impeachment of the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe, and the inauguration of his successor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nduka.
The governor received the new Speaker of the House on Monday few hours after the impeachment of the former speaker.
Uzodinma hosting the speaker and some legislators at the Government House, Owerri, commended the legislators for coming to introduce the new speaker to him. The governor further commended the lawmakers for the peaceful conduct during the process that led to the election of the new speaker. He said that “it shows that African democracy is developing.”
He stated: “We wish you well and we will continue to support the assembly with facilities that will help you function effectively as we have always done.
“I urge you to operate in a manner that will allow peaceful conduct of legislative duties and ensure that Imo people are better off.”
