Verstappen wins 2024 Spanish Grand Prix
Max Verstappen were dominant as he won a fourth straight Formula 1 title late Sunday night in Montmelo at the Spanish Grand Prix to claim his seventh title of the season.
Verstappen overcame the pressure from closest challengers Lando Norris and George Russell for his reward on the track.
The Dutch man passed Russell on the third lap and also passed pole sitter Lando Norris into Turn One but watched Mercedes driver Russell sweep around the outside of both of them.
Just when the watching crowd thought there could be a swing in the pendulum of victory at the Circuit de Catalunya, Verstappen who drove Red Bull’s car overtook Rusell with a tidy race.
Verstappen told the media afterwards: “I think what made the race was the beginning.

I took the lead on lap two and that’s where I had my buffer in the first stint and we eked out the gap a little bit because after that we had to drive a defensive race.
“Lando and McLaren were very quick today.
Especially on degradation, on the last few laps of the stint they were very fast but I think we did everything well, we drove an aggressive strategy and luckily it played out until the end — where it was quite close — but I’m very happy to win here.”
The next Grand Prix, Qatar Airways Grand Prix, wil hold on June 28-30 in Austria.
