Woman admits cutting off boyfriend’s manhood over failed marriage plans
A Kano Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 25-year-old woman, Maimuna Idris, after she pleaded guilty to charges arising from an alleged attack on her boyfriend, Ashiru Sani.
Idris, who resides in Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was arraigned before the court sitting in Kano on Friday on two counts bordering on attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous harm.
The prosecution counsel, H.A. Sani-Buhari, told the court that the alleged incident occurred on July 27 at Badawa Quarters in Kano.
According to the prosecutor, the Badawa Police Division received a report from the management of Durbar Hotel, Badawa, at about 12:50 p.m. on the same day that Idris had allegedly attacked Sani with a sharp object.

Sani-Buhari further told the court that earlier that morning, at about 11 a.m., Idris allegedly attacked Sani after reportedly discovering that he intended to marry another woman.
She alleged that the defendant inflicted serious injuries on the victim during the incident.
The prosecution said Sani was subsequently rushed to the Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital in Kano for medical treatment.
Idris pleaded guilty to both charges when they were read to her in court.
The prosecution said the alleged offences contravened Sections 229 and 248 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Sadiya Usman subsequently ordered that Idris be remanded in a correctional centre pending further proceedings.
The court adjourned the case until September 9 for further mention.
