YOBE: How Boko Haram, federal troops confrontation at Babbangida went last night
Babbangida, the headquarters of Tramuwa LGA, Yobe, was invaded September 26 evening, but the invaders, Boko Hram terrorists, were intercepted by the federal troops.
The encounter between the terrorists who came in gun trucks and the federal troopsof Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, lasted for hours of shootouts.
Frightened residents had scamper into the bush while the gunfight lasted.
The military authorities haven’t given a public statement on the incident.
But ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
“I got in touch with the Command’s officers in Babbangida and they assured me that they are on red alert even though calm has returned,” he told the Daily Post.
He added the troops are still on red alert though all is calm for now.
The terrorists have always wanted to occupy Babbangida over the years.
