18-year-old mother stabs newborn baby to death in Enugu
An 18-year old, Ada Joy Okonkwo has been arrested by the police for stabbing her new born baby to death at Olocha-Adogba in Awgu Community of Awgu L.G.A, of Enugu State.
Enugu State Police Commissioner, CP Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Enugu to thoroughly investigate the case.
According to information from the police, the newborn child (male) was allegedly murdered by the mother, Ada Joy Okonkwo following an advice from her mother, Christiana Okonkwo (60).
However, a statement by the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said; “Preliminary investigation shows that the said mother of the newborn child used a kitchen knife to stab the child to death, following the counseling of her mother, moments after she was delivered of the baby at home.”

“The child was taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctors on duty, while the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.”
