19-year-old allegedly kills father in Kogi, family in shock
Tragedy struck in the Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, Kogi State, over the weekend as 19-year-old Abba Yusuf allegedly killed his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather.
The shocking incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m., when the young man fatally stabbed his father.
According to an eyewitness, the horrific event unfolded within the family home.
Alhaji Nuhu Muhammed Bala, the elder brother of the deceased, confirmed the incident and shared the harrowing details of how he learned of his brother’s death.
Bala recounted that he was at home when his sister called, informing him that their brother had been killed by his own son. “I immediately rushed to my brother’s house, only to be told he had been taken to the hospital,” he said.

The situation took a grim turn when it was revealed that the suspect, Abba Yusuf, had been handed over to the police following the incident.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s mother and her two other children have reportedly fled to an undisclosed location, further complicating the family’s grief.
Efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, for an official statement have so far been unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to his phone have gone unanswered.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving many struggling to comprehend the tragic loss. The police are expected to release further details as investigations progress.
