2 football stars fighting Russia killed in bombardment
Two football stars who volunteered to fight in the Russian-Ukrainian war have been killed.
The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPRO) announced the death of Sapylo and Martynenko in a tweet via their Twitter handle.
“Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and teammates of young Ukrainian footballers Vitalii Sapylo (21) and Dmytro Martynenko (25), football’s first reported losses in this war,” FIFPRO announced.
“May both rest in peace.”
Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskky called on world citizens to come over to Ukraine and join them in the fight against Russia.
Over 100 Nigerians went to the Ukrainian embassy after the announcement t enlist.
Zelenskyy said on Thursday 16,000 volunteers were already in Ukraine getting ready.
Russia President Vladimir Putin ordered a ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine last Thursday—to disarm, denazify, whack Ukraine about to join NATO.
He and his country have since been sanctioned across the world.
