Army hands 12 officers to EFCC for investigation

The Nigerian Army on Thursday night said it has released 12 army officers to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for investigation.
In an electronic statement in Abuja by the Director, Army Public Relations, (DAPR) Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman was however silent on the names of officers.
He said, “The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public that 12 Army officers have been sent to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), for investigation.

“This comprised of three serving Major Generals, and one retired, three Brigadier Generals, four Colonels and one Lieutenant Colonel.
“However, it should be noted that at the end of the Commission’s investigations those found culpable will be tried by a military Court Martial,” he stated.
This is the first time the Nigerian Army would be handing over serving army officers to the anti-corruption agency for investigations since its creation.
The reasons for the handing over of the officers were also not made known.
