Four years on: The world of football salutes Rashidi Yekini
The world of football has hailed Super Eagles and African legend Rashidi Yekini – Yekini died on May, 4 2014 at the age of 48 and was buried in Kwara state – The NFF, Sunday Oliseh, Super Eagles media officer Toyin Obitoye saluted the legend .
Nigerian football legend, Rashid Yekini died four years ago to this day, May 4 in 2012 but his accomplishments are never forgotten.
Yekini scored 37 goals for the Super Eagles (a record to this day) and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country’s first-ever goal in the competition.
He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993. Below are some of the social media messages hailing the highest goal scorer in Super Eagles history.
