Tanimu excited about European move and National team Call-Up
Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has expressed his excitement over his recent transfer from the Tanzanian Premier League to League One in England and his late invitation to the Super Eagles’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The former Bendel Insurance central defender, who was playing for Singida Black Stars until the end of the transfer window, has made his first move to Europe, joining Crawley Town as a defensive reinforcement.
Tanimu, who replaced injured Super Eagles wingback Bright Osayi-Samuel in the squad for the AFCON qualifiers, spoke with football publication 54footballx about his thoughts on both developments.
“My transfer to the new club was unbelievable,” Tanimu said. “It happened on the deadline day, and I was very happy and excited to get such an offer.

I know it’s going to be a big boost in my life and in my career.”
Regarding his call-up to the Super Eagles, Tanimu added, “Getting the invite to replace Osayi in the camp was exciting.
I didn’t even plan to come to the camp. I was very happy, and I will give my best in any little way the coach wants me to give. I am okay.”
Tanimu made his international debut for Nigeria in March during a friendly against Ghana and was also part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and South Africa.
