30 dead in tragic head-on collision along Ore-Lagos Highway in Ondo
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has confirmed the death of 30 individuals in a devastating road accident that took place at Onipetsi, along the Ore-Lagos highway in Odigbo Local Government Area.
According to the FRSC, the collision occurred on Saturday, when two commercial buses collided head-on and burst into flames, resulting in catastrophic loss of life.
Of the 30 people who died, 28 were burned beyond recognition, while the remaining two succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Two survivors are currently receiving care at a hospital, though their conditions remain unclear.
Ondo FRSC Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, revealed in a statement that preliminary investigations indicated that one of the buses was driving against traffic at the time of the crash.

The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, with authorities working to gather more details to determine what led to the tragic incident.
Ibitoye assured the public that the FRSC will conduct a thorough investigation to uncover all relevant information and prevent similar accidents in the future.
The deadly accident highlights the ongoing challenges of road safety and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to avoid such catastrophic events.
The FRSC has extended its condolences to the families of the victims and urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, particularly on busy highways like Ore-Lagos, where the risk of accidents is heightened.
