Breaking News: Osinbajo takes over from Buhari as President goes on vacation
President Muhammadu Buhari has handed over to Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and proceeded on a short vacation with immediate effect.
A short statement issued in Abuja this afternoon by Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) Femi Adesina said: “President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation from today, February 5 to February 10, 2016.
“While President Buhari is on vacation, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the President.
“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
It was not however clear if Buhari’s vacation is on account of ill health or on the advice of his doctors. Neither was there any indication as to whether Buhari will spend the vacation abroad.
