Kanu Nwankwo get appointed as SSA on sports
Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has done it all on the pitch, and will now feature in the political scene,National Daily learnt.
This is because Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha, on Thursday appointed the former Arsenal striker as his Senior Special Assistant on Sports.
“In this new role, the Nigeria World Cup skipper will assist the Ihedioha administration on rebuilding the sports sector in Imo State,” Aic Akwarandu, special assistant to the governor on new media said in a statement.
Kanu began his professional career at Iwuanyanwu Nationale in Nigeria in 1992, before travelling abroad to play for Dutch side Ajax. He went on to wear the colours of Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth, making a total of 404 appearances and scoring 108 club goals.
He has won a Nigerian Premier League medal, EPL medal, UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others.
