Buhari suspends Magu from Office, search for his replacement begins
The embattled acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, who was arrested on Monday in Abuja by the Department of Security Service (DSS), has been suspended from office by the federal government on Tuesday. The suspension, according to sources had the confirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Magu since his invitation by the Presidential Investigation Panel to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday has been detained and been undergoing interrogation on corruption allegations,
The arrest of Magu on Monday generated controversies across the country, forcing the DSS to deny involvement but acknowledging servicing him invitation to the presidential investigation panel at the State House. The EFCC further acknowledged that the acting chairman was not arrested but invited for questioning.
Meanwhile, the episode is adding to the unfolding issues in the presidency since the death of Abba Kyari, former Chief of Staff to the President.
Apparently, the search for Magu’s replacement may begin soon.
