TFA committed to helping secure foreign jobs for its students – Official

The Founder of the Footwear Academy (TFA) in Aba, Abia, Mr Bentley Chukwuemeka, says the school is committed to helping its graduates to secure job opportunities outside Nigerian shores.

Chukwuemeka made this disclosure during an inspection tour of the academy’s new facility by the Director-General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency, Mr Sam Hart on Tuesday.

The development was contained in a statement signed by Abia Information Commissioner, Mr Okiyi Kalu.

The National Daily reports that TFA specialises in training professional manpower for the shoemaking and leatherworks sector.

He said that one of the academy’s recent graduates had secured employment in an Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates-based shoes Company.

He said that the employment of the former student came with full work permit and attendant benefits, adding that the former student had travelled to resume work at the company in Abu Dhabi.

He said that a company in Liberia had taken over the sponsorship of two students currently in the academy with a promise of automatic employment at the company at the completion of their training.

Chukwuemeka said that the academy’s fortunes improved dramatically when Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu started patronising their products and later enrolled at the Academy as a student.

He said that the governor’s interests in the school improved their visibility and attracted massive enrollment resulting in their emergence of the 2021 MSME Awards in leatherwork category in Abuja.

Chukwuemeka said the award which came with a brand new car and cash price of N1 million had spurred them up to do more.

He said that the massive enrollments into the academy had led to relocation from its former one-hall shop location in a shopping plaza to a new five-room duplex where they currently operate from.

He thanked Ikpeazu for his belief in its vision and unique support which opened enviable doors for the company and assured that it would continue to make the governor proud.

Hart commended the team for their diligence and innovation work.

He assured the team of the continued support of Abia government for their growth and progress, while they continued to change the narrative of shoe and leatherwork in the state.
