Former technical school teacher Buhari made power minister reveals his appointment most curious in 2019
Sale Mamman, the dismissed minister of power, has revealed President Muhammadu Buhari never took a long while before appointing him as minister.
He told the BBC Hausa on Saturday how he never solicited nor lobbied for the appointment in 2019.
Saleh, a Taraba politician, had a HND in electrical electronics (and MBA later), and was a technical school teacher before joining Taraba’s work ministry until his retirement in 2002.
He and his Agriculture and Rural Development counterpart, Sabo Nanono, were relieved on Wednesday because of their poor performance and weak stewardship.
Saleh however denied the extreme reaction he reportedly showed when the news of the axing came.
People Gazette which first published quoted family members as saying Saleh collapsed and was hospitalized.
“I know I am hale and hearty. Even when I received the news of the sack, I was in hospital for my regular check,” he said.
While he admitted those close to me were even suggesting that he shouldn’t be told so he won’t “get either heart attack or hypertension”, Saleh revealed the sack was not sudden.
“Some people later called me and informed me, but I told them that the president had already informed me a day earlier,” he said thanking the president for giving him the opportunity to serve.
