FG disburses N600bn for Farmers Support Fund, reduces cost of bag of fertilizer to N3,000
The new Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, has resumed duty with crucial decisions to stimulate food production in the country. The federal government also approved the disbursement of N600 billion for Agricultural Support Fund for small-scale farmers in Nigeria, while the minister reduced the official price of fertilizer to N3,000 per bag.
The former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, formally handed over to the new Agric Minister in Abuja, on Thursday.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar, revealed his policy blue print for the agricultural sector, promising quality decisions to stimulate rapid development and growth of the sector.
The minister indicated that one of the priority programmes of his office is Agriculture for Food and Jobs Plan, which provides structured production support, by giving zero-interest input financing options to farmers.
