Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has admitted a couple of things amidst speculations about the Lagos top job after Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu completes his term.
The No. 4 citizen said in an interview on Channels TV that the APC has what it takes to continue governing Lagos.
“The governor is doing a good job under the circumstances – these are difficult times in the last two years and he’s come out well,” he said.
As for him as Speaker, Gbajabiamila, representing Surulere in the House of Reps since 2003, said he has the toughest job to do in that position.
“I have a job that I am doing now, a very tough job, sometimes the most difficult job but people don’t understand.”
Is he considering coming back to govern Lagos like former Speakers Aminu Masari and Aminu Tambuwal did?
There are permutations the strongman of Lagos politics and APC National Leader Bola Tinubu, who decides the political trajectories of his loyalists, has resolved no governor will serve twice.
Former Gove Akinwumi Ambode fell off his perch, and the Lagos APC booted him out after his first tenure.
But Gbajabiamila dismissed that insinuation.
“The fact that we had a one-term governor at one time does not mean it is going to be the same,” he said, referring to Ambode now in political Siberia.
To stamp his statement on how much of a good governor Sanwo-Olu is, Gbajabiamila stated his own intention for Lagos governorship.
“Not even a thought about it. And why? The present governor of Lagos state is doing a good job.”
