Tension in Southeast over October 1 sit-at-home order by IPOB
The October 1 sit-at-home order by the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) has heightened tension in the Southeast.
The convoy of Hon Chris Azubogu, representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency in Anambra State was attacked on Thursday by gunmen.
Fortunately, he was not in the vehicle but his Hilux driver was killed while another one was seriously injured on his shoulder.
Also, one of the police stations in Ajalli, Orumba North local government area of Anambra State was set ablaze.

Residents of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States have started panic buying in different markets.

IPOB had warned that no celebration of any sort would take place in the zone, warning that anybody seen outside on Friday would have him or herself to blame.
The Pro -Biafra group also warned that Nigeria flags in Igbo land should be dismantled in every establishment on October 1st and beyond.
They said the total shutdown in the Southeast was to demonstrate its rejection by the Federal Government.
The statement was issued by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.
In Anambra State, all the markets, including Banksare witnessing tremendous human traffic, while motor parks are swarming with passengers because many people are using the opportunity to travel.
