S/Kaduna: Military Commander sue for tolerance

The Commander of the Special Military Task Force, code named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in Plateau State, some parts of Bauchi and Southern Kaduna, has charged stakeholders in the four Local Government Areas in Southern Kaduna to continue to tolerate each other and give peace a chance.

The Commander, Maj-Gen Ibrahim Ali said for any meaningful development to take place in the area, peace and peaceful coexistence must not be compromised.

Ali stated this in a statement sent to our correspondent through his spokesman, Major Ishaku Takwa on Monday in Jos.

According to Takwa the Army boss was in Southern Kaduna as part of his strategic engagement with critical stakeholders.

He said: “I urge you to come up with workable frameworks that will bring about lasting peace in the area. No meaningful development will take place without peace and security. Please propagate peace so that socio-economic activities will thrive.

“I will also want to remind you all of the importance of tolerance as stated in the  religious books. This is necessary given our diversity as a people. You must live together as brothers and sisters and work together to fight the common enemies of the society”, the General said.

On their parts, the stakeholders drawn from both Christians and Muslims faith as well as Hausa/Fulani and the natives in Southern Kaduna communities all pledged to pursue peace.

It would be recalled that the Kaduna State Government recently confirmed the death of scores of people in attack in four communities of Kauru LGA.
