“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” These words by author Samuel Beckett could not ring truer. Indeed, you could never achieve true success without experiencing failures, as Spain-based Instagram star, Edouard Prunier, would attest.
At all of 25 years, he is a successful entrepreneur, restaurant owner, and social media sensation with over 400,000 followers on Instagram. Certainly, this wasn’t achieved overnight, and Edouard Prunier saw a fair share of failures before reaching these heights.
However, that did not deter him from persevering in working towards his dreams and finally realizing them.
“I was just an average student, quite unsatisfied with society’s ideas of what one should achieve in life — that is, go to school, university, and then apply for a job. It felt stifling, to say the least.
I wanted to be truly happy with what I did for a living and be exceptional at it. Today, I can honestly say that I’m glad I made my own choices and feel incredibly liberated,” says Edouard Prunier.
Success didn’t come easily to him. The reason he has been able to transform his passions from ‘hobbies’ to a full-fledged career is that he worked extremely hard and kept going at it.
When we fail, we often consider giving it all up. But our failures help us prepare ourselves, sharpen our skills, strengthen our determination, and increase our resilience.
Edouard pursued several paths before figuring out what truly resonated with him. He quit a career in advertising for a full year to explore other avenues of interest.
He tried and failed in many ways, but through those difficult experiences, he discovered what worked and what didn’t. This is the most natural process of learning and development.
Even when it comes to relationships, our experiences help shape our understanding of people, including ourselves.
Edouard says, “I’ve made mistakes, but in hindsight, they were valuable lessons that helped me make remarkable progress.
So, failure, combined with persistence and discipline, is actually what led to the outcome — success on my terms.” When you realize this, you begin to appreciate the experience of failure rather than fear it. The more you fail, the more you can grow.
Hard work and effort do pay off when you do not let failure define you. Let it pave the way for greater things – do not get discouraged by failures. They truly are the stepping stones to success.
