Angry fans on rampage, destroy facilities at stadium, as Ghana knocks Nigeria out of world cup
Angry fans on Tuesday went on rampage after Ghana knocked Nigeria out of the 2022 world cup in Qatar, having qualified on an away goal draw. A video trending on social media shows angry fans storming the main bowl of the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, Abuja, damaging facilities at the stadium at the end of the second leg match.
Security operatives responded with the firing of tear gas canisters but could not stop the rampage immediately. It took some time to restore normalcy at the stadium as the spectators started leaving quietly in frustration.
Nigeria had played goalless draw in the first leg in Kumasi, Ghana, and ended the second leg 1-1.
