France young football sensation Kylian Mbappe who many transfer pundits had thought to be heading to Santiago Bernabeu had left a salty taste in the mouths of many Madridistas including their 45-year-old club legend Guti.

National Daily understands that the 23-year-old Mbappe had looked set to make the switch from Paris to Madrid this summer when his contract with PSG expired, seemingly making his desire for the switch clear since pushing for the transfer a year ago.

However, there was an unexpected turn of events as the former Monaco hitman instead decided to sign a new contract at PSG, keeping him at the club until 2025.

Mbappe’s latest decision has left even his compatriot Karim Benzema unimpressed so also was Real legend Guti, who was keen to throw a bit of shade in Mbappe’s way.

‘He’s the best player in the world? It’s yet to be proven. Currently not,’ Guti told El Chiringuito. ‘How long has he been in Paris? How many Champions Leagues have they won? How many Ballon d’Or? He is so famous it looks like he is the best player in the world, but he is not.

‘He’s the footballer with the most projections. He hasn’t won the Ballon d’Or or the Champions League.’

Meanwhile, National Daily understands that Mbappe who has already ruffled feathers at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe is not giving up hope of making the switch in the future, possibly when his new contract with PSG comes to an end.

Speaking with the BBC, the Frenchman explained: ‘[The chance of moving to Real Madrid is] never over, never over,

‘The only thing is that now I have signed a contract for three years more. You never know what can happen in the future. I give up to think about the future, I only think about the present and the present is I signed a new contract for three years more at Paris Saint-Germain.

‘I spoke to the president of Real Madrid because I have a lot of respect for him and the club. I think it was important to say it personally that I wasn’t going to go. To be a great player [you have] to be honest and everything was great and good because we have a good relationship.’
