Community protest 12 years in darkness under APC govt.
Garage Olode in the Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State has been groping in darkness for 12 years, and it’s fumbling out now to register its grievance.
The residents protested the slow pace of the ongoing electrification and reconnection project embarked on by the Osun State Government on Saturday.
They trooped out and blocked the Ife-Ondo road, causing disruption in the flow of traffic on the stretch of the road.
Osun Commissioner for Works, Oluremi Omowaiye , however, stated that within the next three weeks, power would be restored to the town.
Omowaiye added that the State government had put in a lot into the project
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had in June, 2021, flagged-off the reconnection of the town to the national grid but the project has not been completed.
The state has been under the APC government for the past 12 years.
