Nigerian military intensifies onslaught on bandits, raids hideouts, kills many bandits, rescues 10 kidnapped victims
The Nigerian military has intensified onslaught on bandits and other terrorists towards ending insecurity in Nigeria. Troops of Operation Forest Sanity, in clearance operations, raided the hideouts bandits, killing the terrorists in numbers, and rescued several kidnapped victims in their custody in Kaduna State.
Military authorities in Kaduna State disclosed that troops on clearance operations in some locations in Chikun and Igabi Local Government Areas of the state, rescued devastated the bandits and rescued 10 kidnapped victims in the captivity of the terrorists.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that the troops killed an unspecified number of bandits in a clearing operation of bandits camps at Apewohe in Chikun Local Government Area.
The commissioner added that the cleanup military operations were further carried out Dakwala and Kunai hills in Chikun Local Government Area, saying that the troops destroyed ore hideouts.
Aruwan narrated that in another operation, troops dismantled a camp at Daban Lawal Kwalba in Igabi Local Government Area after they overpowered heavily armed bandits guarding hostages there.
He said that the troops, after clearing the bandits, raided the terrorists hideouts and rescued 10 persons, chained and bound with ropes.
The commissioner also narrated that the soldiers who came under further attack in the thick forest successfully evacuated the hostages to a military facility where they received medical attention before being reunited with their families.
Aruwan akso disclosed that another terrorists’ camp was cleared at Rafin Gwaska in Igabi Local Government Area, adding that several weapons were recovered.
The commissioner said that recovered weapons include three locally made rifles, one AK-47 magazine, one AK-47 top cover, four Bafoeng radio chargers, and 11 mobile phones, among others.
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has commended the troops for the rescue of the 10 hostages; praising the military for the relentless spirit in the ongoing onslaught on bandits, encouraging them to sustain the momentum.
