London Court shifts trial of Ekweremadu to Jan 31
The Central Criminal Court in London, the United Kingdom, on Monday shifted the trial of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu to January 31, 2023, from the earlier date of May 2023 over allegations of organ harvesting.
The Court accepted that arguments will be heard on December 16th or 19th 2022 before the commencement of the trial in January.
Ekweremadu was arrested on June 23 with his wife, Beatrice, on allegations of conspiracy to trafficking a person for organ harvesting in violation of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Ekweremadu was not in court on Monday, but his wife and daughter, Sonia, were present. The wife was released on bail in July.
