Wike leads PDP G5 to Ibadan for Makinde’s gov campaign

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Thursday led other protesting governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the PDP G5, who transformed into the Integrity Group, to Ibadan, Oyo State, for the flag-off of the governorship campaign of Governor Seyi Makinde, who is seeking second term in office.

Other PDP G5 allies include Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State. They were all present at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, for the campaign.

Also, PDP Deputy National Chairman, South-West, Taofeek Arapaja; the PDP State Chairman in Oyo, Bayo Ogungbenro; and other state officials,  were also  present at the campaign.

The PDP G5, marketing Makinde to Oyo voters as the “Youth Leader of the G5”, urged the people to vote Makinde for a second tenure, noting that  he has done well since coming into office in 2019, and deserves a second term.

Wike, at the campaign stated, “You all know that Seyi Makinde has done well since he came in 2019 and, therefore, the only way we can appreciate more and benefit more is for him to go back and complete the good work he has started.”

Wike told PDP members and supporters in Oyo State to vote the PDP in the governorship election, the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial elections, adding that they will be informed later of the presidential candidate of choice. According to Wike, “the other one, Seyi will come to you.”

The PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and the party’s presidential candidate, and other national leaders, were excluded from the Ibadan campaign flag off.

Governor Makinde, in appreciation tweeted on his official twitter handle: Seyi Makinde @seyiamakinde “Grateful to everyone who made our official campaign flag-off a success today! I especially thank my brother governors and other eminent party members who joined us in Ibadan for the event. I thank the good people of Oyo State for turning up in their numbers to show their support.”
