Breaking: Tinubu set to address Nigerians amidst fuel hike
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address Nigerians in a broadcast on Monday, July 31 at 7 pm.
Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Dele Alake, made this known in a statement on Monday.
He urged local television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.
The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation on Monday, July 31, 20, at 7 pm.

“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
The planned national address by the president may not be unconnected with the planned strike of the Nigerian Labour Congress scheduled to begin on August 2 over fuel subsidy removal and palliatives for Nigerians.
The broadcast may also not be unconnected to ballooning inflation and economic hardship caused by the removal of subsidy on petrol.
Speaking recently while receiving All Progressives Congress’ (APC) youth leaders from across the country, Tinubu said he feels the pains of citizens and assured them that the hardships of the moment will give way to a more “prosperous, equitable and inclusive economy”.
“I can assure you that I understand the pains you are going through. It is not easy to get out of the monster of over 40 years called fuel subsidy,” he said.
