There have been warnings in Nigeria against military invasion of Niger Republic by ECOWAS forces. Many have cautioned the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, to resist the temptation or foreign pressures to approve military invasion of Niger, pointing out the consequences of war in the neighbouring country.
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, was cited to have stated: “Democracy is what we stand for and it’s what we encourage.
“The focus of our gathering is not simply to react to events, but to proactively chart a course that results in peace and promote stability.”
