My own leader, Atiku, has not called since Ibadan bomb explosion - Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, receiving the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, in Ibadan on Monday, disclosed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has not called since the bomb explosion in Ibadan to commiserate with the people of the state.

Makinde noted that President Bola Tinubu contacted him through the telephone to commiserate with him and the people of Oyo State.

Governor Makinde had stated: “I want to thank you especially for the visit. Out of the 3 major candidates who contested the 2023 election, only Atiku Abubakar, my own leader and our candidate has not called to commiserate the state.

“I am saying this openly so that our leaders will know that we have time for politics and others. I want to thank you once again for coming.”

Makinde also in a statement declared:

“This morning, we received my brother, His Excellency @PeterObi and his team, who visited us in Ibadan to condole with us over the Bodija incident.

“I thanked them for the visit and for putting politics aside at this time to sympathise with the victims especially those who lost loved ones.”
