Mandi, mastermind behind Abuja-Kaduna train attack arrested
The suspected mastermind behind the deaths of Abuja-Kaduna rail passengers has been apprehended by the police.
The train attack occurred in March 2022 and the mastermind was identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi, commonly known as Mandi, an ominous moniker.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, confirmed this on Thursday.
He told the reporters that the suspect was also involved in the kidnapping of Greenfield University students in 2021.
Police stated that 48 AK-47 rifles were confiscated after Mandi’s arrest, and attempts are underway to locate his sponsor and weapon source.
On the other hand, the community of Ajokpachi Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State faced another harrowing attack allegedly perpetrated by Fulani bandits on Tuesday, resulting in the tragic loss of at least three lives.
Nifu Abuka, a Community Leader who narrowly escaped the attack, highlighted the persistent fear instilled by the aftermath of the assault on Agojeju Odo.
He expressed concerns over the porous security situation in the area, attributing the vulnerability of their community to the longstanding feud between the Agatu people and Fulani herdsmen in neighboring Benue and Nasarawa states.

Abuka urgently called upon relevant government agencies to intervene and increase security presence to safeguard the lives and properties of the affected communities.
He appealed to both the Federal and State Government to deploy permanent security outfits to the communities, emphasizing the dire need to protect residents from further attacks and secure their farmlands and deserted villages from the hoodlums who have taken over.
