APC’s Agbomhere apologizes for wearing police uniform amid tension in Edo
Blessing Agbomhere, the South-South Zonal Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued an apology to the Nigeria Police Force after donning a supernumerary (SPY) police uniform during a recent political event.
His actions followed a press conference where he publicly criticized Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, accusing him of mismanaging public funds
The Nigeria Police Force, in response, ordered Agbomhere’s arrest, stating that his wearing of the SPY uniform for political activities was inappropriate.
Police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Ajejobi clarified in a statement that the police were displeased with Agbomhere’s conduct and that his arrest was necessary for further investigation.

In his apology, released on Friday, Agbomhere explained that his decision to wear the uniform was driven by strong emotions related to his views on Governor Obaseki’s governance. He emphasized that, despite the controversy, his criticisms were his own personal opinions, not those of the Nigeria Police Force.
Agbomhere, who describes himself as a committed patriot, stated that his involvement in various organizations, including the Supernumerary Police Division, stems from his dedication to nation-building and promoting peace and security in Nigeria.
Despite the apology, Agbomhere did not retract his criticism of the Edo State government, reiterating his stance against what he views as corruption and incompetence under Governor Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo, the chairman of the Edo State Economic Team.
He further endorsed Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, as the only leader capable of delivering good governance to the people of Edo State.
