Edo refinery expands capacity, targets May 2025 export
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) recently conducted a successful assessment of the crude distillation column at the refinery.
The Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (ERPCL) has announced the expansion of its capacity to 80,000 barrels per day.
The expansion project is located in Koko, a border town between Edo and Delta states.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) recently conducted a successful assessment of the crude distillation column at the refinery.
ERPCL expects to export its first cargo from the expanded refinery by May 2025.
The by-products of the expansion include AGO, HPFO, Naphtha, and Fuel gas.

The company is hopeful that the NMDPRA will allocate crude oil to the refinery through domestic crude supply obligations.
This will ensure a steady supply of raw materials for the refinery’s operations.
With the completion of the expansion project, ERPCL aims to contribute to Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity and reduce the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
