Court remands 2 over burglary
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, ordered that Samson Sofowora, 37, and Bamidele Bello, 40, be remanded in a Correctional facility over an alleged burglary.
The duo whose residential addresses were not provided were charged with conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
They however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, did not take the plea of the defendants for want of jurisdiction.
He directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
Olanipekun, thereafter, adjourned the case to Nov. 28, for mention.
The Prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at midnight on Aug. 3, at Jenriyin Estate, Ibadan.
Igori said that the defendants conspired, broke and entered the house of one Mrs Dolapo Taiwo and stole two television sets worth N1.4 million and bedspreads Worth N120,000.
He said the offences contravened Sections 517, 411 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
