Wale Akinyele faces N1 Million fraud charge in Oyo State
Prosecutor Cpl. David Adepoju informed the court that Akinyele allegedly deceived Mr. Adedeji Olayiwola… claiming he would use the funds as a service charge for a government agent.
A 60-year-old man, Wale Akinyele, is facing allegations of fraud amounting to N1 million at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Oyo State.
The defendant is being tried on two counts related to fraud and theft, although his residential address has not been disclosed.
During proceedings, Prosecutor Cpl. David Adepoju informed the court that Akinyele allegedly deceived Mr. Adedeji Olayiwola in August, claiming he would use the funds as a service charge for a government agent responsible for issuing certificates for transformer installations.
According to Adepoju, Akinyele failed to remit the N1 million and instead converted it for his personal use.

The prosecutor stated that Akinyele’s actions violated Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
In response to the charges, Akinyele pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail set at N500,000, requiring two sureties in a similar amount.
One of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned until December 12 for further proceedings.
