New Russian regions hold major export promise – Overchuk

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, on Wednesday, said the country’s recently integrated regions possess significant export opportunities, particularly in agriculture and other growing sectors.
“These territories have colossal export potential,” Overchuk told the Federation Council, Russia’s upper house of parliament.
“Agricultural production is actively developing, and the economy is expanding in these areas.”
He emphasised that the Russian government was supporting efforts to promote products from these regions in international markets.
The regions referred to include Crimea, which rejoined Russia in 2014 following a referendum in which 96.77 per cent of voters supported the move.
In October 2022, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, along with the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, were incorporated into Russia after holding local referendum.
