Work resumes in Osun after Easter holidays

Work and commercial activities resumed fully in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Tuesday after the two-day public holiday declared by the Federal Government for the Easter celebrations.

National Daily Newspaper reported that banks, government offices, and various commercial establishments, which had closed for the Easter break on Good Friday and Easter Monday, reopened to customers.

Visits to the Federal High Court and Osun State House of Assembly revealed that civil servants had returned to their duty posts early in the day, ready to resume official functions.

Similarly, the state secretariat in Abere was abuzz with activity, as workers attended to routine matters.

Among those who spoke to our correspondent was Mr. Mathew Olaoye, a civil servant, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness another Easter celebration.

He highlighted the spiritual essence of the season.

“Easter reminds us of the ultimate love and sacrifice that God made for the human race, by giving His son for the atonement of our sins,” he said. “We are to show love to one another and live in peace with each other, just like the lesson behind the whole Easter season.”

Mr. Sunday Oluwafemi, a staff member at the Osun State House of Assembly, remarked that this year’s Easter was celebrated on a quieter note due to the current economic challenges in the country.

Despite the subdued nature of the festivities, Oluwafemi expressed optimism for the nation’s future.

“We thank God for the gift of life. Despite all the challenges, we are among those that witnessed another Easter,” he said. “I strongly believe that with God, all things are possible. Because God really loves us as a nation, I believe that things will only get better in Nigeria.”

The return to business in Osogbo reflects a resilient spirit among Nigerians who continue to draw strength from their faith and community, even amid economic hardship.
