NGF Condoles with Niger State over Flood Tragedy

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State following the devastating flood that claimed at least 21 lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira in Mokwa Local Government Area.

In a statement on Friday, NGF Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed deep sorrow over the scale of destruction caused by the flood.

AbdulRazaq stated “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands in solidarity with the government and people of Niger State during this difficult time,”

 “We are deeply shocked by the magnitude of the flooding and the tragic loss of lives and property in Mokwa.”

“We commiserated with affected families and lauded the Niger State Government’s swift response and coordination with emergency services to support victims.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the growing threats of climate change and its impact on our communities,”

“As leaders, we reaffirm our commitment to work with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other stakeholders to strengthen disaster response systems and climate resilience across the country.”

The Forum prayed for comfort for bereaved families and called on citizens to support government efforts in mitigating climate-related disasters and cooperating with relief agencies aiding affected communities.
