Nigerian model and media personality Denrele Edun has revealed that he has struggled with love, describing his romantic experiences as largely unlucky and unreciprocated.

In a candid interview on the Moraya Show, the actor opened up about his relationship challenges, explaining that his previous partners rarely matched his commitment or affection.

Denrele said he has often found himself giving more than he receives, a dynamic that has left him heartbroken and ultimately prompted a shift in focus toward self-love.

He expressed that his natural tendency to love deeply has not been returned in kind.

“I have not really been lucky with love,” he said. “People like us who have so much love to give to the world, we don’t really get it back in return. So, I have found it in different people and places, and I have realised that let me just love myself at this point.”

He added that his past relationships “did not come out the way I would have loved it to,” and that he now believes it is better to prioritize loving himself.

Denrele also explained that he often provides clarity in relationships but receives confusion in return. He said that loving him is easy because he has “so much love to give,” but that his partners often respond with excuses when he makes an effort.

“I am the easiest person to love. I have so much love to give,” he said. “Recently, I was in a relationship with someone and I realised that once I make effort, people give excuses. That is what is happening in my love life all the while. While I’m giving clarity, they are giving me confusion.”

He further noted that despite showing commitment, his partners did not reciprocate, leaving him to question the authenticity of the relationships.

“So, I realised that this is just convenient to the person,” he added.

Denrele’s remarks come amid growing public interest in the personal lives of celebrities, particularly as audiences continue to seek more open and honest conversations about relationships, mental health, and self-worth.

His decision to focus on self-love is likely to resonate with many who have experienced similar disappointments in love.
