Chelsea star Enzo Fernández agrees terms with Manchester City
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has reportedly reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Premier League rivals Manchester City, with the proposed move now dependent on negotiations between the two clubs.
Fernández is understood to be keen on joining City and has agreed the key terms of a potential contract with the reigning Premier League side. The Argentina international is now waiting for Chelsea and City to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.
The development could set the stage for a major Premier League transfer, with discussions between the two clubs expected to intensify in the coming days.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have yet to submit an official bid for Fernández, meaning the deal remains subject to Chelsea’s valuation and willingness to sanction the midfielder’s departure.
Romano disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that Fernández has already reached a verbal agreement with City over personal terms.

He added that the transfer would ultimately depend on a club-to-club agreement, noting that City had not yet made a formal offer but that contact between the two sides was expected to take place soon.
“Enzo Fernández has a verbal agreement with Manchester City on personal terms,” Romano wrote.
“Deal depends on club-to-club decision, as #MCFC have not sent an official bid yet, but contacts will take place soon; decision on price is up to Chelsea.”
Romano also suggested that Fernández’s immediate future at Chelsea could be uncertain, revealing that the midfielder could miss action again this weekend.
The situation leaves Chelsea with a major decision to make as City weigh up a move for the midfielder. While Fernández has reportedly made his preference clear, the transfer cannot be completed until both clubs agree on the financial terms.
Fernández joined Chelsea from Benfica in a high-profile transfer and has since become an important figure in the club’s midfield. A move to City would see him remain in the Premier League while joining one of Chelsea’s direct domestic rivals.
For now, negotiations over the transfer fee remain the key obstacle, with City yet to put an official offer on the table and Chelsea holding the decisive position on the player’s valuation.
