Badoo kingpin dragged IGP Idris, Lagos CP to court
For having the boldness to declare him wanted and sealing off his properties, Abayomi Alaka has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal to the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, the Vice President, Yemi Osibajo and the National Assembly.
Counsel to the kingpin, Babatunde Ojehomon, disclosed on Friday that the sealing of his client’s properties and declaring him wanted was an infringement on the fundamental human rights and freedom of movement of his client.
Ojehomon, who disclosed that his client had already instituted a case against the IGP Idris and CP Edgal at the Federal High Court, Lagos State Division, pointed out that CP Edgal decided to go after his client because he (CP Edgal) has “an axe to grind with him (Abayomi).”
Ojehomon further explained, “It is shocking that CP Edgal and the IGP have again come to the public declaring our client wanted, who is an applicant before a superior court wanted over allegation of Badoo cult killings.
“We affirm that originating process in the matter have been served on the respondents since August 2017 and this case had come up for hearing once before a vacation judge and twice before Justice Hassan of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division.
It was, however, gathered that in the said petition, one of the request was to establish an independent investigation devoid of the control and supervision of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal.
It would be recalled that CP Edgal had two weeks ago declared wanted Abayomi Alaka in connection with several killings associated with Badoo cult group that have held Ikorodu area of Lagos in the jugular.
Since the cult group began its violent killings a couple of years ago, several families have been killed by the group smashing its victims with stones and mopping their blood with white handkerchief, which they allegedly used for ritual purposes.
The 51-year-old Alaka’s properties including a petrol station and event centre were shut down by the police.
