Christmas Attack: RRS arrest 11 over National Theatre

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, (RRS), of the Lagos State Police Command, at weekend, arrested 11 suspected members of a robbery gang that specialized in attacking fun seekers at the National Theatre and its environs.
The suspects, it was learnt attacked a female trader and dispossessed her of N250,000 on Saturday. Other fun seekers also had their valuables forcefully taken away.
Luck ran out of the gang as they were perfecting strategy to attack another group of ladies when RRS operatives launched an attack on them arresting 11 in the process.
One of the suspects identified as Onuwa Friday, who, it was learnt was recently released from one year jail term, was arrested and a hand belonging to one of his victims was found with him.
Men of the RRS were said to have been led to the hideout of the gang by Onuwa and arrested 10 others at Ijora under the bridge.
Confessing to the crime, Onuwa said, “We went to Costain to rob. It was Kowasibe (a member of the gang who was armed) that accosted the lady and collected her hand bag. We found bundles of N500 denomination.
“I just finished serving a year jail term after I was arrested over the crisis that broke out in Ajah during electioneering campaign in 2013.”
He regretted involving in robbery again after coming out of jail.
