Iniesta, Podolski helps collect funds for vissel disaster
Andres Iniesta and Lukas Podolski joined team-mates from club side Vissel Kobe in collecting donations for the victims of the Hokkaido Earthquake in Japan.
Iniesta moved to the Japanese side during the summer after his contract with Barcelona ended.
And now his new club have been raising funds following the 6.7 magnitude quake that struck the country last Thursday.
The death toll following the Hokkaido Earthquake has risen to 44 in the days following the event according to the Disaster Management Agency.
Over 660 people were injured and there are still two people reported missing, the agency claimed on Sunday.
In total 2,544 people are still being held in evacuation centres after homes were flattened on Japan’s Hokkaido Island.
In a bid to help those who are without a home, have lost loved ones or are injured, the Vissel Kobe football team recruited their star players to gather donations.
Images show former Barcelona midfielder Iniesta greeting young children and holding a box, which they planned to fill for those in need.
Former Arsenal and Bayern Munich forward Lukas Podolski was also present along with a host of the club’s other top talents.
Vissel currently sit in seventh in the J1 League after 25 games and are coming to the close of their season.
