APC adopts consensus in nominating national chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has resolved to adopt consensus in nominating an aspirant as the candidate endorsed by the state APC stakeholders for election as national chairman at the APC national chairman.
The APC State Chairman, Haliru Jikantoro, receiving reports of the reconciliation committee at the APC Secretariat, Minna, Niger State, disclosed that APC stakeholders in Niger State have resolved to work together and ensure victory for the party in the preparations for the 2023 general elections. APC had been contending with multiplicity of crisis trailing the local government congresses in 2021, spilling over to emergence of factions conducting parallel state Congress.
The reconciliation committee in Niger State is led by Bawa Bwari.
Meanwhile, the Niger State APC stakeholders are mobilizing strongly for a consensus candidate to emerge at the national chairman as APC national chairman so as to minimize further conflicts in the party.
President Muhammadu Buhari was alleged to have endorsed the adoption of consensus for the election of the next national chairman of the party. Some governors and party leaders were also said to have agreed to consensus option.
