APC’s presidential campaign stalls Senate debate on CBN withdrawal limits
The presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, on Tuesday, stalled the Senate debate on the new monetary policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on cash withdrawal limit. Apparently, the absence of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking and Finance, Senator Uba Sani, who was attending APC presidential rally in Kaduna on Tuesday, compelled the Senate to suspend debate on the CBN cash withdrawal limit, postponing session to Wednesday.
One of the Committee members, Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi, in a Point of Order, withheld the report which was to be presented at Tuesday’s plenary because of the absence of Sani, the Committee chairman who was attending APC presidential campaign in Kaduna.
Adetumbi emphasised that the committee’s report on the CBN withdrawal policy is ready.
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, assured that the report of the Committee will be presented within 24 hours.
